Follow Sealey, a brave young seal, on an unforgettable Arctic adventure filled with courage, friendship, and discovery.

Seal Courage
Bright sunshine warms a seal herd in The Great Big North. Large males stretch out napping, scout seals watch for any signs of danger, while mothers nurse fluffy, furred pups.
Seals scoot in and out of a round hole in the ice, which leads to the chilly Arctic water. The motion keeps the hole from freezing over, allowing seals to hunt for food and then return to breathe and rest on the frozen Arctic surface.
Everyone into the water
Kentar, the herd leader, slid across the snow as scout seals yelped out warnings. Thick neck muscles and powerful flippers pushed Kentar’s doglike head skyward, turning left then right. Black eyes focused in the distance, his nose smelling the air.
There! - Three yellow shapes coming, but still far off. “Yellow bears!” barked Kentar. “Everyone into the water.” The herd sprang to life, heads bobbing, bodies gliding, nervous grunts filling the air. One by one, herd members slid through the round hole into cold, dark water.

Seal Nearby
In the distance, a red object hung high in the sky, its spinning blades pounding the dense arctic air. Thump, thump, thump. Boldar remained standing to investigate.
A gentle wind ruffled the great bear’s fur. Turning his snout into the breeze, a familiar odor filled Boldar’s nose: mother and baby seal!

A lifelong lover of Craigville, John Greene now spends his summers painting outdoors beneath the oak tree in his yard. His artwork captures the peaceful charm of Cape Cod, inspired by familiar places like the CBA Beach Club, The Manor House, Red Lily Pond, Lake Elizabeth, the Centerville Inlet River, and The Bluff.
